Vyzadon embraces Trench Town

Recording artiste Vyzadon has been receiving international attention because of this affiliation with his home town of Trench Town.

While this affiliation does nothing for him in Jamaica, he has found that the artistes who hail from Trench Town and their positive stories that follow have laid a solid foundation for him overseas.

Trench Town is popularly known as the place of reasoning for several legendary musicians such as Dean Frazer, the late Alton Ellis, and reggae legend Robert Nesta Marley.

Vyzadon, who grew up in Rema, has found his musical influence in his home town. What started off as a hardcore dancehall career soon moved into a conscious dancehall/ reggae energy.

He said, "In Jamaica, when I say I'm from Trench Town or Rema, for the most part people associate me with being a volatile ghetto youth, but when I speak to producers and even fans overseas, I find that they are eager to know more about how my music relates to where I'm from."

The artiste, who is known for singles such as Positivity and Humble, has been receiving airplay locally and internationally but wants to urge Jamaicans, especially those who strive to excel outside of inner-city communities, to embrace their own talents.

"We are talented, and we have great potential. We want to be seen as more than delinquent youths. Why do we have to wait on others to acknowledge us before our own?" asked Vyzadon.
