Strictly 2K heads to Florida
The latest Jamaican export to the US party scene is Strictly 2K Best of the 2000s, which will kick-start the Miami Labour Day weekend festivities. LMNCTY in Miami will host this staging, and patrons are excited about this Florida debut.
Certainly one of the most anticipated and talked-about events on the local scene, Strictly 2K has already seen successful stagings in New York. The diaspora has responded favourably, and the request to have the event in Florida was one that the organisers could not turn down.
Florida resident and Strictly 2K's communications director, IB Konteh, is quite pleased with how well the US market has opened its arms to the newer Jamaican events and is happy that the idea of Strictly 2K has persons filled with anticipation in the Sunshine State.
"The feedback has been great so far. People in Florida have been waiting for an event like Strictly 2K, and it's finally here," said Konteh. "We are excited to see how the event is received, and we can't wait to wow patrons with what we have in store."
The organisers are keen to start with a bang in Florida, and Strictly 2K director ZJ Chrome believes that music will play a big role in that.
"It will definitely be a diverse crowd, so it is important that we meet the expectations of every patron," Chrome said. "While the event is predominantly reggae, patrons will be fIted with soca, hip hop and R&B as well."
Strictly 2K will see the likes of Jamaica-born Florida-based DJs Dutty Dex and DJ Live. Jamaica's ZJ Liquid, DJ Nicco and ZJ Chrome will also be tasked with providing musical 'eargasms' from the 2000s.
The organisers have no doubt that the Florida staging will be well-supported. "It's going to be a movie," Konteh shared. "Whether yard or abroad, we will never drop the standard. So, If you are in Florida in August 31, LMNCTY is where you need to be."
