In a music industry bursting with talent, few new acts manage to capture the essence of harmony and sound quite like the new fresh faces of Reggae, 19 year old Renae and Jermi.

The two which hail from St Catherine in Jamaica are being managed and produced by veteran Music Producer Clive Hunt under his ‘Iconic Azul’ label and are quickly making waves with their fresh sound and captivating performances.

Their debut single, Mi Caan’t is already garnering significant attention, marking the beginning of what promises to be a remarkable career.

Meet Renae and Jermi

Renae hails from St Catherine in Jamaica where she honed her craft at the St Catherine High School. Her journey into music was inspired by her deep-rooted love for the performing arts, nurtured during her upbringing where singing at church revealed her innate gift and ignited her passion to share it with the world. Her musical repertoire is a harmonious blend of reggae and gospel, with a touch of jazz, reflecting her diverse influences and eclectic taste. Drawing from her background in theatre arts, Renae brings a unique flair to her performances, always striving to captivate her audience.

Jermi similarly hails from St Catherine, specifically the vibrant town of Spanish Town in Jamaica. His journey into the world of entertainment was sparked by a revelatory moment during a live performance at his alma mater St Catherine High School's founders' day celebration. The electrifying reaction from the young audience and the profound sense of liberation he felt on stage ignited his passion and purpose.

'Mi Caan’t': A Promising Debut

The two who sing individually have come together under the tutelage of iconic music producer, composer and arranger Clive Hunt for their first single Mi Caan’t set to be released globally on June 7 with stunning visuals in a music video that same day. The song is a re-write of the Barrington Levy classic My Woman with a modernised twist which now features Clive Hunt as a co-writer on this new version.

It tells the tale of two young lovers (a boyfriend and girlfriend) who are complaining about the stress of their relationship but just can’t seem to stay away from each other, hence “mi caan’t.”

A Unique Musical Blend

According to Clive Hunt, the two new young artistes were perfect for the song as what sets them apart is their ability to blend their sounds seamlessly, creating a sound that is both unique and relatable. He noted that Jermi’s background as a musician who also plays the trombone along with Renae’s vocals came together to form a distinctive style that appeals to a wide audience from the GenZ to the Boomers.

In an interview, Jermi declares that “being signed to the Iconic Azul team and working with Clive Hunt is an experience that is both promising and life-changing as a new young artiste.” As for Renae she asserts it “has been a transformative experience, providing her with the support and encouragement she needs to pursue her dreams in the entertainment industry.”

Rising Stars to Watch

With the release of Mi Caan’t both artistes are gearing up for a successful new chapter ahead in the competitive music industry. As they continue to build their career, Renae and Jermi remain committed to staying true to their artistic vision both individually and whenever they collaborate as a duo. Their dedication to crafting authentic, high-quality music has already set them apart and their future looks incredibly bright.
