Woman wishes to get married for the new year

It is once again the time to make wishes for the new year and it is fascinating to hear some of them.

One woman said her wish for 2016 is to get married. The wish had her friends roaring with laughter.

"What is so funny about my wish?" the woman queried.

In response, the women reminded her that she had married twice before and both husbands ended up dead.

"You people think I am the black widow, but I had nothing to do with their deaths. The doctors said they died from natural causes," she said.

"When I look back into my life, I have no regret that they died. The first one was very mean to me and pick fight with me all the time. You all know that I am one woman who don't run from a fight.

"The next one was a gambler and a drunkard and so I could not get any money from him. He worked good money as a furniture maker, but all the money went into gambling and rum drinking.

"So you all know the story of my life, so at age 55 my wish for the new year is to find a loving, kind and considerate man to be my husband. I am not giving up because at least I deserve someone like that in my life," she added.

The women all expressed surprise that their friend had married "two no good men" and wished that she would be

happily married in 2016.

One of the women said she was very upset that her son had been unemployed for more than a year and hoped that in the new year he would get a job.

"There are too many young people who cannot find jobs and I am wishing that 2016 will bring more jobs for them. My son has been job hunting for more than a year and just cannot find a job," she disclosed.

job opportunities

A man who was passing by pointed out that people both locally and abroad would love to invest in Jamaica so there could be more job opportunities for young people.

"Let me tell you all that crime is wrecking this country. There are too many guns in the hands of criminals and too many murders and robberies," he explained.

"I have relatives living abroad who would like to open businesses in Jamaica, but are afraid that gunmen will rob and kill them. Even some of our same people living here are interested to open businesses, but are afraid of being killed," he said.

The women all agreed that crime was a serious problem in Jamaica and they all wished that there will be no murder in 2016.

"I think that if a law is passed in Jamaica in the new year for murderers to be hanged, then we would have very fewer murders in the country," one of the women said.

The woman and her friends were not aware that there was no need to pass such a law. Under the Offences Against the Person Act, a judge can impose the death sentence for certain categories of murder. Although such sentences are passed, they are not carried out because no hanging has taken place in Jamaica since 1988.
