Westmoreland man charged for allegedly firing shot during dispute

Several charges have been laid against a Westmoreland man who reportedly fired a gun at a man during an argument in Bastard Cedar Walk district, Petersfield in Westmoreland, on May 24.

Thirty-year-old Jason Chambers of Fort Williams district, Westmoreland, and Toronto, Canada, has been charged with shooting with intent, using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The police say about 3 a.m., Chambers and a man were having an argument when Chambers pulled out a firearm from his waistband and fired one shot at him.

The man ran and escaped.

A report was made and a targeted raid was conducted during which Chambers was apprehended.

Chambers was subsequently charged after a question and answer session on Tuesday. His court date is being finalised.
