Police constable charged with murder granted $400,000 bail
A police constable has been charged with murder following a probe by the Independent Commission of Investigations into a fatal shooting in Montego Bay, St James, in May 2022.
Constable Waeyvel Phillips was placed before the St James Parish Court on Monday where he was also charged with making use of a firearm to commit a felony.
Phillips was taken into custody on his return to Jamaica, seven months after a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He is charged in relation to the May 13, 2022 off-duty fatal shooting of 33-year old, Kadmar Beadle, at a bar on Jarrett Street in Montego Bay.
He was granted bail in the sum of $400,000.
His next court date is December 4.
