Shawn Storm looks to build on 2025 momentum
'Itching' his way into 2026 on a wave of virality, Shawn Storm declared 2025 as his "deserving" year of success.
He said this re-acclaimed fame teaches his supporters patience, which allows some of his previous work that never got the needed attention to now reach the hearts of his fans.
"It [was] one of my most successful years, based on all the tours dem, but the song [ Holster (Itch Scratch)] just come put di icing pon di bulla," he smiled.
Speaking with THE STAR just moments after performing at Angola Festival on New Year's Eve, Shawn Storm has been racking up views and beaming in the spotlight for the past few months after he entered the Tommy Lee Sparta-Masicka rivalry. Breaking the ice and fuming tensions with the comical and witty Holster, a track which was an indirect response to Masicka's diss track Revelation, his single took a complete twist as supporters took it from mockery to success.
Gaining massive attention from several international and local fans and musical acts, Holster was dubbed 'the Christmas anthem', as it had many 'itching and scratching' online to the playful composition, which later spawned a TikTok dance challenge. With new songs and a refreshed lyrical flow from the artiste since this viral hit, many are now applauding Shawn Storm for his win. He noted the changes he has observed in his performances and the supporters' responses since Holster went viral.
"It better now. Now di people dem willing fi wait - dem know mi have a song suh dem wait pon mi set. Dem naah rush and dat good. Dem a pay attention now, trust me, dem a listen and dat mek mi feel deserving," he said. "It mek mi feel like mi years of hard work wasn't in vain."
He promised that with the same high energy and attention following him into 2026, fans can expect a more intensified and driven Shawn Storm, as this has stroked his creative juices that he'll inject into propelling his career to further success.
"Just expect more itching and scratching," he laughed. "In regards to the stigma of that song, mi waah find some more songs weh can create dah whole energy deh or even better." Shawn Storm, who is now booked and busy, said he's also anticipating the release of his upcoming EP, featuring dancehall star Teejay and Uganda artiste Grenade. The artiste, who also hopped on to DJ Mac's trending 'WYFL' rhythm, has also garnered positive reactions and gained several tractions with the unofficial release of his track on the beat titled, Loui V White Tees. The song, which was recently mixed by DJ Mac, has also shot its visuals and will be officially released soon. Shawn Storm gave his first 'test-run' performance of the song at the Angola Festival, which got several 'pull ups' from the interactive crowd who 'buss blanks' rapidly at the very introduction of the rhythm.
Addressing speculation about a 'bad vibe' between his team and Jah Bouks - organiser of Angola Festival - stemming from a recent 'misunderstanding' at Club MECA, Shawn Storm rubbished the arguments, stating that they are all "good".
