Kahira Jones, one of the men caught up in the infamous Vybz Kartel murder saga, is finally a free man after spending nearly 15 years behind bars.

Jones, who was convicted in 2014 alongside dancehall heavyweights Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm, as well as Andre St John, walked out of prison this morning, closing a long chapter tied to one of Jamaica's most talked-about criminal cases.

While Kartel and his co-accused were freed in July 2024 after the Privy Council quashed their convictions in the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams, Jones remained locked up due to separate firearm-related charges.

In 2019, he was sentenced to 18 years for wounding with intent, along with eight years each for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Those sentences kept him behind bars even after the high-profile murder convictions were overturned.
