Parents squabble over ‘tups of lotion’ claim

The father accused of sending a mere “tups of lotion” to help care for his son has denied the claim, insisting that the substance was an ointment for a skin condition.
Daniel*, the father, told THE STAR that his name had been dragged through the mud by the child’s mother, whom we will call Nicole*, after she posted a video complaining about the contents of a package he sent for their son.
“This woman wicked, she wicked oh God!” he lamented. “It’s an ointment, it’s not no lotion,” Daniel said.
The father said the cream had been prescribed for him, and he has decided to share it with his son.
“The cream is for heat rash,” he said, explaining that the child had a rash on his neck.
But Nicole said she had no intention of going viral when she posted a video on social media, claiming she had endured months of frustration over her strained relationship with Daniel.
She said Daniel delivered the package while she was away for training.
According to Nicole, Daniel called to ask where she was and told her to have the children collect a bag containing food items, lotion and something for their son.
When she returned home that evening, she said she was disappointed by what she found. The package contained several food items, including cornflakes, a pound of oats, sardines, a large Milo and Lasco, four special-offer crackers, a case of juice, a pack of hot-dog rolls, Ramen noodles and tin sausages. However, the “tups of lotion” made her upset.
“Mi seh, a really lotion this,” Nicole recalled.
She said she called and texted Daniel, but he did not respond.
Daniel, however, flatly rejected her account.
“She don’t have to reach out to me because it’s something I give her. It’s a good ointment,” he said, adding that the matter should never have reached the media.
Daniel admitted that the small container shown in Nicole’s video had previously been used to hold weed. He said he had rinsed it before putting some of the cream into it.
But Nicole remained adamant.
She said she smelled the substance and believed it was lotion, while also insisting there was nothing wrong with the boy’s neck.
Daniel maintained that Nicole knew exactly what the substance was.
“It’s no joke, she knows it’s a ointment because she use to help me use it on him and it work,” he said.
The row has also exposed deeper wounds between the former couple.
Daniel said he had supported Nicole financially and had made sacrifices for her and their children.
But Nicole said their relationship fell apart after she discovered what she described as infidelity involving a friend.
Daniel insisted there was now no chance of reconciliation.
“There is no getting back together,” he said. “I am doing everything because of my child.” 
He claimed to have provided groceries the previous week and there was no complaint.
But for Nicole, her child’s father needs to step up.
“Him can do much, much better because him a get good pay a fortnight, and him only a do that because I don’t want to get back with him,” she said. 
Daniel, meanwhile, said the backlash had left him humiliated and disappointed.
“Go easy it’s not the truth,” he pleaded with social media users, saying the controversy could discourage other fathers who were trying to do their best.
“I never expect this from my babymother, someone who mi uplift,” he said.
Nicole has since returned the items, according to both sides.
Daniel said he still has them and remains hurt by what he described as “blatant lies”.
“I never expect this from my babymother, someone who mi uplift. Mi mek too much sacrifice fi this girl and mi leave money every fortnight,” he said, insisting that the public had only heard one side of the story.
“This girl just want to bring me down but you can’t stop God anointed,” he added.
For Nicole, the incident has left her disappointed.
“You really don’t give the baby nothing in a long time, and mi a say a really this him bring come, and not just the lotion, but when mi look a pure weeble in the oats,” she lamented.
