GofundMe set for Clarendon College coach - Assistance sought after car stolen during Champs
Davion Chantiloup, head coach of Clarendon College, says a GoFundMe account has been set up to assist him in purchasing a motor vehicle after his previous car was stolen from the National Stadium car park last Wednesday evening.
The stolen vehicle, a pearl white Toyota Wish bearing licence plate number 9930LL, was taken sometime during the evening while Chantiloup was preparing his athletes to take the track on the second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships.
The theft came on what should have been a celebratory evening for Clarendon College, as the team secured three medals - two gold and one bronze at the championships.
Chantiloup, whose fiancee recently gave birth to their second child, said he is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of his motor vehicle.
"I haven't heard anything from the police about the car and so the best thing that I am doing now is to try and raise some funds from friends, family and the wider public to see how best I can get back a car," said Chantiloup.
"I have a GoFundMe set up right now and so if anyone goes on the app and types in "support Clarendon College coach" you will see it. I am appealing for help from everybody because no matter how small it is, it will be highly appreciated by me," he said.
Chantiloup added that he is very thankful for the support he has received so far through the GoFundMe app, but he is still in need of more funds to help to purchase a car.
"People have sent out their sympathy towards me but nothing in terms of anything put forward, but the most support that I have gotten so far is through the GoFundMe app because one and two persons would have donated something."
"This has really left me in a devastating position because when it really hit me is the Sunday morning after Champs when I was supposed to go home and I saw our bus and all of my luggage was outside and then the reality hit me that my car was not here," he said.
